To be a stickler, Seth, the famous quote by Woody Allen is:
90% of success is just showing up.

This saying reminds me of another saying that my husband is always quoting.
"The harder I work, the luckier I get." I don't remember who said it first, but I like it.
Your husband's comment is similar to a quote from Thomas Jefferson:
"I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it."
