Church Supports Britney Spears

A Church in Kentucky is organizing to support Britney Spears.
"If she were your next-door neighbor in the same situation without the money and success, wouldn't you care about her problems? Wouldn't you pray for her and offer her support and encouragement?" he asked members of the church.
My cynical, burnt-out-on-church side thinks the answer to this question is, "sadly, probably not."
Why organize the entire resource of the church around one person? How about every one in the church takes a nice card to their actual next door neighbor which says, "Hi! We love God and God loves you. How can we help you? What can we do for you? Do you just want to visit for coffee or tea and talk?" Use X number of people to impact X more people. Right?
It's this kind of gimmicky shit that is really turning people off of the Church.
The only church I ever knew of who was doing a campaign to impact the neighborhood they were in was that one big giant church in Phoenix. What the heck was it called? They were cool. Someone still in the valley of the sun, help me out here.
And, having shit on the whole thing like the tool I am, let me say, Britney, God loves you. Hang in there kiddo.
Completely unrelated: Here's what the latest Google alert for RemindMe turned up: They Remind Me Too Much of You. Nice. I love the Internet.

Not sure what's wrong there, Matt. Maybe you should bug the Squidoo people...
Looks like Kentuckians aren't the only ones:
