Goals Update

I set a few Goals for 2007. They were:

  • Make a Matt & Phil's Band CD
  • Get promoted at work
  • Buy a house

How have I done?

Matt & Phil's Band CD

No M&PB CD Yet, but we have one single available as an MP3 on our MySpace funfolk page. Also, apparently Matt and I each received checks for 186 bucks and change for royalties from BMI. We're still not sure why. By my account that makes us professional songwriters, dammit, and that's something. I'm happy to wait on this one though. Mission Postponed?

Get Promoted at Work

I ended up quitting the job I was working at when I set the goal of "getting promoted at work". When I found out that they were moving the offices further South than I wanted to commute in September, I started looking for a new job. Also, in a review I was told I was difficult to work with and not "promotable" at that time.

I obtained another job. I explained in the interview what the previous job had said in my review. After a month the owner and my direct boss both said I was a pleasure to work with and my comments in the interview were the "most incongruous thing you have said". That meant a lot to me.

Recently, they make me the Technical Lead for the project I'm working on. That's the position I was applying for at the old place. Mission Accomplished!

Buy a House

Michelle and I are looking around at houses, but your girlfriend living 5 states away makes it difficult to really mount a realistic house hunt. We're watching the market drop and trying to time it. In the meantime, I'm working on trying to fix my credit. I'm in no rush to buy. Mission Delayed.

Updated Goals

I have revised my goals somewhat. I have no shame in changing my goals to fit my core. I'm keeping the above, sort of, and adding:

  • Take a Kayaking Skills class and stop being a poser. Did it a few weeks ago finally. Awesome! I'm still sore! Mission Accomplished!
  • Lose 50lbs to be 200 to 210. My body disgusts you. Admit it.
  • Run a 5K. That's about 30 minutes at a 10 minute mile. Right now I can run 2 minutes 20 seconds without stopping. That's an improvement for me, believe it or not.
  • Learn some basic conversational Spanish.

To tackle those last three goals, I have obtained a Spanish tutor, and a personal trainer. Look for rudimentary posts on this blog en Español and for pictures of me looking hotter, and sweaty.

Longer Term Goals

A few long term goals (some old, some added):

  • Live to be 150 years old
  • Run a Marathon. January is Marathon season in Florida. I'm not in shape to begin training for those runs in the amount of time left. I'm going to shoot for the marathon season in Jan of 2009.
  • Earn $100,000,000.00 in the next 2 years. You read that right.

How are you coming on the things you have set out to do this year? How are you doing on your long term goals?

Update: Goal: fix my credit. So far, I've taken a seminar at my credit union and started the process to remove my judgments regarding child support, now that I'm ahead again.

CGE!

Well, honey, I'm impressed. And you still have a few more months left in the year to squeeze in some more goal resolutions...although the 100,000,000 may not be possible by then, but we'll try. Congratulations on trying to get more in shape. It really shows ;) Keep kicking butt and taking names and I'll make sure to get closer to my own big goals (Finishing my internship) so that I can be back home with you again. Hopefully by then we can plan all those other big things, like the house.
