Someone Will Be With You Shortly

It bugs me when people say, "someone will be with you shortly," or "I'll be there shortly".

Aren't they going to be as tall as they usually are? Or when they get there, are they going to behave "shortly" or act "short" or "curt" with me?

The word you're looking for, universe, is: "Soon!". OK, OK, I've looked it up and I realize "shortly" is acceptable to use in the cases above, but still... It bugs me.
