Save the Last Dance

Add A Comment! »»

Heard this cute story on the Radio tonight:

The song is likely based on the personal experience of Doc Pomus, who had polio and used crutches to get around and could not dance. His wife, however, was a Broadway actress and dancer. The song gives his perspective of plaintively telling his wife to have fun dancing, but to please remember who she is going home with.

Take a Running Jump Here

I would like to think that someone had objections to the Playstation ad that read "Take a Running Jump Here" before it went up in a subway station. No one took responsibility after the fact, that's for sure.

A spokesman for JC Decaux said: "We leave it to Metrolink and the Advertising Standards Agency to decide whether something is appropriate, that isn't our role."

Early Bird

I wouldn't so much mind the early bird getting the worm, if he weren't such a smug son-of-a-bitch about it.

It's me; really. I'm upset with myself for not being early. Pray for me, that God would help me to be an early bird, and remove this bitterness from me.

grocery-wars.jpgThe Organic Trade Associations bring you "Grocery Store Wars", a clever send up of Star Wars with a pro-organic foods message: "Join the Organic Rebellion!" Propaganda? Perhaps. Awesome? Definitely. It's barking hilarious! No spoilers. Requires Flash.

Blowing Up My Apartment

The other night I made cookies. I'm guessing that either when I put the cookies in or took them out of the oven, I somehow turned one of the stove burners, so it was on "high" just short of the "light" setting. My stove is natural gas stove. Twenty five minutes or so later, I smelled gas. I went into the kitchen and saw the burner. When I went to turn it down, the burner kicked into "light" (since it was so close to being there in the first place), I heard the tell-tale "click! click! click!" and then - POOF! The gas hovering in the air above the stove lit! Fortunately there wasn't that much gas in the air or I would have lost some hairs (or skin). A roll of paper towels on the stove caught on fire. So I opened a thermos of water... {sorry, inside joke}. I put the paper towels out in the sink and the excitement was over... Ever almost blow yourself up?

He Who Calls First

Ron called me today and we got a bad connection, so I called him back, but he was calling me back and neither of us could get through. I've done this with my brother too, and they both have the same rule (which I always forget): He who initiates the call should call back. So, that's the rule. Obey the rule!

Like A Bandito

Remember how on Thanksgiving I said about 25 people in my church wanted to make sure I had somewhere to be? To be honest, maybe 25 is a bit of an exageration, but I did get invited several places. Anyway, as I said, it's humbling and a major blessing. It's also a bit awkward because one ends up having to turn down many of these invitations. On thanksgiving I went to my family celebration and then went to a gathering of church friends. I turned down invites to several other church friend's get togethers.

For Christmas, I ended up in a similar situation, but decided to try something different: what if, insted of turning down a lot of these invites, I went to as many get togethers as possible? The answer is, you end up driving a lot, but it's totally worth it!
